Pack 59's Agenda: Our Flag!

Hello Scouters!

Our next meeting is this coming Monday, September 29th at 6:00 p.m. Each Den will be focusing on the United States flag to address den-specified requirements. In addition, I will be choosing facts about the flags creation and construction, I think will be interesting for the Cubs.

We will also be launching our annual Christmas Wreath fundraiser. Packets and information will be distributed.

Bring A Buddy Game Night! September 15th

Dear Families,

Our next meeting is Monday, September 15th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the CUMC Fellowship Hall. Our agenda? Recruiting!

Here are the details for our Bring a Buddy Game Night!

  • Please have your Cub invite a friend, who is interested in Scouting
  • Cubs who Bring A Buddy will receive a Gift from the Pack this very evening
  • T-shirts will be given to those Cubs who brought a Buddy, which in turn, registered this evening.
We will also be practicing our Scout Oath and Law so brush up!

Sierra Blanca District Outdoor Appreciation Camporee at Fort Stanton: Reminders/Agenda


Fort Stanton Details!


Please note, Cub Scouts do not arrive until 1:00 on Saturday. In addition to the agenda below, here are a few additional reminders:

  • Bring water shoes and tennis shoes (not flip flops)-we may hit the river if it is running.
  • Email me if you need a packing list: anessa.collins@gmail.com
  • Class A and Class B Shirts Required: During the day they will wear a nice t-shirt and shorts (no holes) and during flag ceremonies they will need their official shirt and a Scout hat.
  • Pack plenty of sunscreen and fluids.
  • All food and drinks (including snacks) for your family, need to be provided by your family.
  • Please bring cash to pay for registration: $5.00 per person.

Outdoor Appreciation Camporee in Fort Stanton, NM

The sights and sounds at Fort Stanton are quite remarkable after dark. We ask that you please keep your Scout quiet after dark, following campfire time (this means no talking.)


Saturday-    7am--Wake up
                    Troops on your own for breakfast
                8:45am-- Opening Flag Ceremony at flag pole on parade grounds
                9:00am till Noon--Morning MB session
                Noon till 1:00pm-- lunch
                1:00p                  --Afternoon MB session
                       1:00p--Cub Scout activities begin 

(archery, horse shoes, hike to the Bonito, games)
                4:00pm till 5:30p--Troop Archery time
                         --Dutch Oven snacks with Mike Hunter demo-info time
                4:00pm till 8:00pm—Dinner and free time about Fort Stanton
                8:00pm-- Campfire and skit time!
                8:30pm-- Special music presentation
                9:00pm till 10pm-- quiet time
                10:00pm--TAPS and lights out

Sunday- 8:00am—Scouts Own Service


**If there is enough interest, SM Kevin Flusche (T-59) is prepared to take the boys on a 5 mile hike in the Ft Stanton area immediately after the service.**  Please talk to Kevin on Saturday to make arrangements.

Maps of activity locations will be available upon arrival and check in.

Out of Roswell-
head west on US 70 to US 380.
Continue right on US 380 for 18 miles to NM 220 (Billy the Kid Trail), turn left.
Continue on NM 220 approximately 2.5 miles to Ft Stanton.
Scout Camp will be just off of Kit Carson Rd on the south side of the fort.

Out of Ruidoso-
head north out of town on US 48 to NM 220 (Billy the Kid Trail) on road toward Sierra Blanca Regional Airport.
Continue past SBRA till the road comes to a stop at a three way intersection.
Turn left and stay on NM 220 approximately 1.5 miles to Ft Stanton.
Scout camp will be just off of Kit Carson Rd on the south side of the fort.

Cell service is spotty in the area but should you need additional help while on the road please call Kevin Flusche SM T-59 on his cell at 575-937-0897 or Dana Lenzo CC T-59 at 575-808-0524.
