Announcements, Welcome Mats and Fundraising Blazing

Dear Scout Families and Visitors,

Our meeting on October 20th ran smoothly thanks to Sam Mize and Eric Collins who pitched in for me while I was working. I am grateful!

We welcomed a new boy, and were thrilled to see a prior Cub return. We may be small, but I believe we have very responsive families who want to see their sons have a traditional Cub Scout experience and I am grateful for each of them as they help the Pack Go!

Wreath sales are rolling into our Pack. The Troop will also be selling wreaths. Please post our fundraiser to your Facebook page, announcing the final date, November 9th, and encourage your friends and families to place an order. The quality of the wreaths is astounding and they will not be disappointed. If you need more order forms please visit Eric's office during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Be sure to collect payment at time of order or you will really be in a pinch when it is time to order. The Pack has to write a huge check to the Farm, which means we need the money you collected, in our bank account beforehand. :)

Our next meeting will be Monday, November 3rd same time and Bat Channel. Expect an agenda as the date draws near.

My plan is to give the Cubs a one-year subscription to Boys Life for Christmas. We did this last year, using funds from the wreath sales, and it seems a fitting gift for them. Registration dues do not include this benefit any longer.

In Gratitude,
Anessa Collins, Your Humble Cub Master!

ANNOUNCEMENTS! NEWS! TA-DO's and THANK YOU'S!

Dear Scout Families,

Thank you so very much for helping with the River Clean-up! We had a very productive two-hours, picking up 8 contractor bags of trash, a chair, a backpack, a pair of shoes and all sorts of unbecoming items! We earned 16 hours of BSA Service Project time, which I have logged, and the Village has issued our Pack a $100.00 check! WHOOO! I appreciate each of you!

  • Our next meeting will be packed (no pun intended) and managed by Eric. We will be working on "Good Will/Citizenship".

  • PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS YOUR LAST NIGHT TO COMPLETE YOUR APPLICATION FOR THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR AND PAY YOUR $25.00 IN DUES. I have no wiggle room as our re-charter is due on 15 November. Please make checks payable to BSA.
  • If you are in a Leadership Position/Den or otherwise, you must complete your YPT again. According to new BSA policy this must be done BEFORE every re-chartering process. Eric, Sam and myself-we are all DUE. Please add this task to your list and do not forget. :)
  • BSA is discontinuing all belt-loops as we approach 2015. If your Cub really wants one, please get busy working on it NOW!
  • Sell those wreaths! I have not yet heard from the Jubilee, but shall keep you posted. Business in mid-town will gladly take your order for their front door!

Toss No Mas-Community River Clean Up Project

Scouters,

Here are all the details for our Service Project work with the Village of Ruidoso, Parks and Recreation Department.

When? Sunday, October 12 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Where? Two Rivers Park
Why? Beautification of Ruidoso and the opportunity to earn money for our Packs expenses.

Reminders: In order to earn the $100.00 offered to each group through this project we need ten youth present and ready to work. Please bring your families and any potential Cubs and let them join you in this event.

Cubs should be in their uniforms, tennis shoes and hats. Gloves, bags and snacks will be provided. Please R.S.V.P to me if you are attending. 575.937.7673.

Our next meeting is not until Monday, October 20th. Please use this time to meet at home with your Cub and accomplish a "family" requirement. For example, design an evacuation plan! Where would you go? Does it change based on emergency type? (Fire in house versus fire in nearby area.) What if you are unconscious? Where is your Cub to go? Who are they to call? You would be surprised at the value of this very brief exercise.

Have a wonderful week!
