Gone To The Dogs: February 2, 2015 Meeting Agenda

Scouters,

We have a truly fun and educational evening planned with special guests from the Laughing Eyes Kennel organization (www.lekennels.org). Taryn McCain and her Staff along with a trusty service animal will join us to discuss the critical role these animals play in providing assistance and companionship to the disabled.

Our Cubs have a disability awareness requirement and if your Cub attends, this will fulfill said requirement. We will conduct our regular business (game time for the Cubs, business for the Parents) from 6:00 to 6:15 p.m. and then Taryn and her Staff will host their presentation. Please be ON TIME.

Pack #59's Martin Luther King Day Meeting!

Scout Families,

I know Monday is a holiday but the boys need to meet since we have gone so many weeks unable to work on Pack requirements. Thus, if you are in town, please join us Monday for the following work on requirements.

BSA's theme for the month of January is "Building A Positive Attitude." We seem to be able to maintain a positive attitude when all things are going our way, but when challenges arise or when we become frustrated, it becomes more difficult. Thus, we will be using the Scouter Mom Pack meeting approach of teaching this critical tool through MAGIC tricks.

If your Cub knows a Magic trick please plan to have him demonstrate the trick and then teach it. The Collins family will be introducing 2-3 new tricks to challenge the Cubs and teach them to be cheerful and too have an attitude of "hope toward a positive outcome" while they are learning these tricks.

Cub Pack #59's Meeting Agenda for Monday, January 12th, 2015

Happy NEW YEAR and a special congratulations to the Mize family for their purchase of Mountain Oasis Water Company!

Cub Pack's first meeting of the 2015 New Year will be on Monday, January 12th, same time and place. We will be working on requirements so bring your thinking caps!

A few updates to refresh your memory following the long holiday break:

1. Due to the holidays we will be meeting this month, back to back. So our next meeting after the one above is on the 19th.

2. If school is closed, Scouts is cancelled.

3. Please be sure to spend at least, 20 minutes each week, on a Scout-related family activity (identified as "family") inside each of the Cubs books.

4. Invest time each week to supervise and coach the design and initial development of your Cub Scouts Derby car. If you need support, let us know. We have several Dads with extra tools and necessary space, who can mentor your Cub, with you present.

5. To see our meeting schedule through the conclusion of this years' academic calendar, look on this page, to the very far right column.

6. Our 2015 Pinewood Derby will be spent with Troop #59 at the First Baptist Church on Cree Meadows, Saturday, February 21st, start time TBD but likely 0830.

See you MONDAY!
