Pack #59 Year-End Reminders

Scout Families,

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

If your house is as busy as ours is at present, you will be grateful for the following reminders, regarding our last meeting/Christmas Party/Court of Honor for 2014.

1. We will meet at our usual time and place. Please be on time as we have a packed agenda. (Agenda can be viewed at the prior blog post to this one.)

2. Please have your Cub bring his White Elephant Gift. Remember, this is not an item you purchase. Instead it is an item your Cub has been given, but would rather have not received and has yet to dispose of. Examples: the sweater he despises, given to him from Grandma, a game or toy he was given labeled for a much younger age, a duplicate of anything, an item for his room he'd rather never hang or a book about an entirely irrelevant (to him) subject. (One year Eric and I used an old Cat Scratching Post as our White Elephant and came home with a chandelier from the 1970's!)

3. Cubs are all required to bake with a Parent. Use this evening to meet this requirement and BRING WHAT YOU BAKE TO OUR CHRISTMAS PARTY. Choose a simple recipe your Cub can follow and then take a step back and be there to answer questions and remind them of safety issues. Cookies, a snack, a sweet treat, but keep it simple so you can enable their success! And, GUIDE BUT DON'T LEAD, COACH BUT DON'T CROWD.

4. Court of Honor for the Troop will occur first, then our Cubs will receive their end-of-year belt-loops.

5. Our Pack needs to generate additional service project hours so I am requesting (although not requiring) you to consider helping Santa's Helpers deliver dinner and gifts to families in need. The Cubs will miss roughly two hours of school but will receive a priceless educational experience. Here are the details;

Santa's Helpers Delivery Information:
Location: First Christian Church on Hull
Date/Time: Thursday, December 18th, from 8:00 a.m. til 10:00 a.m.
Task: Deliver gifts and Christmas dinner to families as assigned by SH Team

I am grateful each day for your family and your Cub but this time of year I feel very blessed to have each of you in our Scouting life and in our Community at large.

Happy Holidays,
Cub Master Collins
