Dear Scout Families,
Spring on the mountain has arrived and we have begun planning some FUN for the Cubs. I will have completed my contract by mid-April and will return to Scouts as your fearless/fearful Leader by Mid-Month. Between now and then, Sam Mize and Eric Collins will be holding down the fort. Here are a few pieces of information to keep all of us synced up for the next few weeks.
Our first meeting in April will be on the 20th! Due to spring break and our bi-monthly schedule this is how it unfolds.
Ruidoso Parks and Recreation Department has asked us to participate in the annual Great American Clean Up on April 12th from 1-3 p.m. We need our entire Pack and as many family members as we can wrangle to qualify for the $100.00. Bags, gloves and snacks will be provided just like last year. Cubs must be in uniform. I assume we will meet at School House Park, near the Ruidoso Public Pool. Standby for confirmation via text message from me.
The Conquistador Council Pinewood Derby, which Indy is eligible for, is in Carlsbad in May. Other Cubs can attend and watch the exciting District winner participate if they so choose. Details to come!
At the suggestion of Parents we will be taking the Cubs to the White Sands National Monument for Full Moon Night on TUESDAY, JUNE 2ND. We need to discuss details as a Group, but no reservations are required. I suggest we arrive early, let the Cubs run and sled the dunes, wrap in a requirement by visiting the Visitors Center or attending the evening Program. Back country camping is available but Eric nor I are familiar with facilities available. We can discuss this as we draw more near to June.
Faith is the Cub Scout Theme for the month. I am hoping to have our Pastor, Todd Carter, provide a teaching moment for the Cubs. Trust me, Todd is an unforgettable speaker and he can connect with people in a way I have rarely seen. I shall keep you apprised.
If you need anything please contact me and I will get back to you asap!
Cub Master Collins, Out!
