Scouters and Potential Scouters,
Fall, or late Summer, is here and our Pack has several events we'd like to make you aware of including:
National Fishing Day, hosted by Ruidoso Parks and Recreation Department. Kids fish for free this Saturday, August 22nd from 9:00 to 12:00 at Alto Lakes. Kayak rides and giveaways are always included. Although this is not a sanctioned BSA District event, a Cub Pack Safety briefing will commence at 8:45 a.m. under our canopy. Please wear a hat, bring plenty to drink and eat.
Congratulations on your Whittling Badges! Clear patch holders will be acquired by me for this temporary badge. No need to SEW! Stand by...
Cub Pack #59 will attend the annual Fort Stanton Camporee on September 12th. Please plan to arrive at 12 Noon on Saturday and pack up and out first thing Sunday morning. The Family Camp Night meets a requirement for each of our Cubs. The Pack will pay for your families attendance. Additional details regarding food and events are being determined.
Scouting for Food will be November 14th. Troop #59 and the Pack #59 will be collecting canned food items at several grocery stores from 11-2 p.m. Please plan to have your Cub in uniform and available to "Do A Good Turn" on this date. Other Packs may be joining us.
Pack #59 will not be leading the decorating of our own or a District float in the Aspen Parade this year. Myself and Eric will be traveling in September making this an impossibility. If the District decides to decorate a float our Pack will participate and I will inform you. Until we make this determination, I asked you to reserve any other float commitments unless otherwise necessary. :) A float without Scouts, is just a decorated trailer!
I will be distributing recruiting flyer's throughout Sierra Vista Primary in August for multiple "Cubs & Coffee" meet and greets hosted by myself at Zocca. The first will be this Monday, August 24th from 2:00-2:45 p.m. If you are considering Scouting, this is our recruitment time! Please spread the word on my behalf.
Last but not least, we will begin our Third Annual Sherwood Forest Farms Holiday Wreath sales on October 1st. I am working on a partnership with a local business to use their store front/porch in addition to our door to door efforts. Please sit down and make a list of your regular supporters and anyone new you would like to approach!
